Welcome to the candelabra extinguishing

Church of the Advent!

Please join us as we mark Holy Week and celebrate Easter together.  We are glad to announce that we will be sharing Holy Week services again with our friends at Ephiphany Parish in Walpole.

Maundy Thursday service will take place at 7:00 pm in Walpole.  This is when we remember the institution of the Eucharist at the last supper.  We also watch as the altar is symbolically stripped symbolizing the abandonment of Jesus at the garden.

On Good Friday we will be here at the Advent at 7:00 pm for our Good Friday liturgy.  It is a simple but solemn and moving service as we pray some of the oldest recorded prayers in our faith.  We will reflect on Jesus' loving action on the cross.

On Saturday we will celebrate the Easter Vigil.  We will come together at 7:00 pm in Walpole to light the first fire of Easter.  We will then hear the readings from salavation history, reaffirm our baptismal vows, and, finally, celebrate Easter together.

Easter Sunday sermon small

On Easter Sunday we will be back at the Advent with services at 9:00 am and 11:00 am.  The choir will sing anthems, and we all will sing the great hymns of our faith.  We will celebrate the Eucharist where all are welcome no matter their denomination.  There will be an Easter Egg hunt for young ones and an Easter Egg roll for older children following the 9:00 am service.

The Advent is a loving and faithful community that  seeks to follow Jesus in our often chaotic modern  world.  We worship the Lord in the "beauty of  holiness" with a theologically rich liturgy and a warm,  joyful spirit.  I encourage you to make the Church of the Advent your new spiritual home.  We will all be better for your presence.

Further down the page you will find some important events in the life of the church.
